Jerry Serrano performs as a solo artist at venues across West Texas and New Mexico. He is the winner of the 2015 Spring Singer Songwriter Competition at Blue Light Live in Lubbock, Tx, and the current host of Singer/Songwriter night held on Monday evenings at the Blue Light Live. His wide range of musical influences make for an eclectic show. He sings and accompanies himself on guitar, piano, and trumpet.
His influences include, Miles Davis, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Muddy Waters, and Ryan Adams. He is also in demand as a session musician and freelances in various musical projects in the West Texas area. He has performed as a keyboardist for Red Shahan, Erick Willis, John Baumann, Ross Cooper, Jon Young, and many others. His debut solo album "The Moon" was released in September of 2017.
Alma Quartet has been the premier vocal jazz ensemble in the Lubbock, Texas area for over a decade. Jerry formed the group in the fall of 2002 and they have stayed busy since it's inception. Jerry is the singer, and he also plays trumpet and guitar. John Reid plays the bass, Royce Chambers plays the piano and tenor saxophone, and Yaurian Horton is the drummer. They perform original music, jazz standards, and Latin jazz sung in Spanish and Portuguese. Their debut album 'Solitude' was released in December of 2015.
